God is so Good!!!

Yes!! I'm still out here. And to my faithful few followers (all two of them) sorry for not posting in such a long, long time. It's been almost a year and a lot has been happening in the life of this Christ follower, too much to try and catch up on in just one post. So I won't even try.

I will say just one thing: God has been working on this son....

He is trying to mold me into the devoted follower He desires. And I must honestly say He has His work cut out for Him. Fortunately for me NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR GOD!!!!

Probably the most important thing I've learned over the last year is He wants me to simply be OBEDIENT to whatever, wherever and whenever He calls. I know that may sound pretty simplistic but I don't believe He is trying to make it that difficult for any of us to understand. We just have to be willing to LISTEN and FOLLOW!

Antoher thing I've learned over the last year is that my mission starts at HOME! WOW, how simple is that one.

God is sooooo good!!!

Blessings,
Bud

P.S. That's my beautiful bride Sandie in the picture with me. I certainly didn't want you all to have to look at just my mug!

Remembering the past!

You've heard about my other boys at different times on this blog. Well this is our middle son Nick. As you can see he has a pair of those fake glasses with the nose and mustache.

After he put them on I told him he looked like Groucho Marx. He looked at me with that "who are you talking about Dad?" look.

Now of course I was just a little boy when I watched the Marxs brothers with my Grandmother but just explaining who they were made me feel old. But it also reminded me of the great times I spent with my Grandmother as a young boy.

I love looking back at my youth. The only problem is, it is getting harder and harder to remember things.

Where is my Ginkgo Beloba?

Continuing Scrabble Saga

The continuing saga of Scrabble in my house.

This was my oldest son CJ's first real game with his Mom. She said he really kept up well.

Haven't heard from any other Scrabbler's out there.

Maybe you are like my wife and I, Euchre players. Not many people outside of Ohio and Michigan even know what that card game is.

Scrabble Smackdown

Sorry to all my faithful followers (all 4 of them) for not posting in a while. But my wife has started a Scrabble challenge in our house this past week. She and our friend from next door have been going at pretty much every night.

Now my wife and I played a game on Sunday, which is the first game of scrabble we've played in probably 10 years. The last time we played I thought we were going to have to call an attorney (if you know what I mean). Fortunately we've matured some over the years.

However here is just a snippet of my wife and our friend in a Scrabble Smackdown. If there are any scrabble addicts out there you may relate.

(Thanks Tom for the video)

God's Church - A 10yr old's perspective

Going through my e-mail this morning I came across an old one my wife sent me from our 10yr old son CJ. We home school CJ and my wife had asked him to write a paragraph for his English lesson that day. It wasn't necessarily structured properly but who cares, because this is what he wrote:

God's Church
by CJ Stanton

When you hear the words 'God's church', you think of Heaven or a regular church. God's church is really us. If we ask Jesus into our heart, then we become God's church. It is then our job to tell people about God.

Lord help me have the innocence and wisdom of a 10yr old!

At that time Jesus said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children."

Matthew 11:25

The Greatest Gift of All

As I sit here preparing for our Christmas Eve services here at New Hope I ponder the thought of the Greatest Gift of All. Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

How much does God love us that He gave His one and only Son for us?

I have three beautiful boys, this is my youngest. When I look at them and my heart swells with love I can't IMAGINE, FATHOM, or COMPREHEND giving up any of them.

How much more does He love us (me)?

"This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son[b] into the world that we might live through him. 10This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for[c] our sins."

1 John 4:9-10

God first loved us! Even in all of our mess. No matter what! He gave His One and Only Son! WOW!!!

Luke 2:8-14

8And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ[a] the Lord. 12This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."
13Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 14"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."

Let's celebrate the Greatest Gift of All!

Blessings and Merry CHRISTmas

A lesson from a 5 year old

This past Saturday I was sitting with my 5 year old son Camden in our rocker/glider. As he ate his favorite breakfast, garlic toast, he said to me "Daddy it doesn't get any better than this".

Not sure what was coming of course I had to ask, "Really...Why is that?" He floored me with, "Cause God is 'Wicked' cool." WOW! OK what did he mean by that?

Again, I had to ask!

He tells me because God made this day for us!

Alright are you feeling the way I was feeling........Double WOW! My 5 year old gets it, and I think better than I do some days.

Lets remember this day is a gift from God, and my life during this day is a gift from God!

"This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalms 118:24
